![]() ![]() Rejecting cannabis prohibition in Meridian Township also reaffirms the stance voters took in 2018 when 60 percent of our community voted to create a system for legalizing and regulating cannabis statewide for all people 21 years and older. In fact, Meridian Township has already done this very thing with medical marijuana businesses. If we reject this proposal, we can create careful regulations that allow for a limited number of cannabis businesses zoned in specific areas away from schools, daycare centers and other sensitive places in our community. Prohibition - both for alcohol and cannabis - only served to fuel the black market and wasted law enforcement resources. If we have learned anything from our country’s past experience with prohibition, it should be clear this is a horrible idea. On August 2, Meridian Township voters will decide whether our community should impose a complete and total ban on adult-use cannabis businesses. ![]()
